The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) will host the 3rd Organic Agriculture (OA) Fair on March 4, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Organic Agriculture Research, Development, and Extension Center (OARDEC). Organized by the Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI), College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), in collaboration with the UPLB Interdisciplinary Studies Center on Organic Agriculture, this year’s OA Fair aims to promote entrepreneurship in organic agriculture.
With the growing awareness and implementation of Republic Act 10068 (Organic Agriculture Act of 2010), the fair seeks to highlight advancements in research, development, and extension (RDE) programs on organic agriculture. The event is expected to attract a diverse group of participants, including farmers, researchers, extension workers, students, government officials, and private sector representatives.
This event will highlight distinguished speakers, entrepreneurs and farmers who will share their experiences and success stories in organic agriculture. We have also invited UPLB chefs and experts who will showcase the traditional vegetable and microgreen cooking techniques. The event will also feature exhibits and product displays where organic agriculture stakeholders will present innovative projects and products from various farms, research institutions, and local businesses. Moreover, visitors will have the opportunity to explore OARDEC’s organic farming initiatives through guided farm tours.
The OA Fairs in 2023 and 2024 successfully gathered more than 500 and 600 participants, respectively. This year, organizers anticipate an even greater turnout as interest in organic agriculture continues to grow.
