E-Dialogue On Organic Agriculture For Sustainable And Resilient Community Food Systems

ABOUT THE SUMMIT

Part of Food Systems Summit Dialogues (FSSD) of United Nations (UN), this e-dialogue is a powerful opportunity to meaningfully engage, collectively explore, and resiliently emerge in shaping the change for sustainable food system. In this e-dialogue, we shall discuss knowledge and experiences to mainstream the contributions of organic agriculture towards sustainable resilient community food systems that ultimately shall contribute to the attainment of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Multi-sector stakeholders, their challenges, strategies to overcome them, potential pathways, and action plans to reach short, medium, and long-term goals in response to the five UN FSSD Action Tracks shall be explored and shared during the dialogue.

Objectives of the Summit

1. Provide a platform to share and synthesize

  • knowledge (indigenous, traditional, and science research outputs)
  • experiences (good practices, opportunities, and innovations) by which organic agriculture contributes to ensuring food security; shifting to sustainable consumption pattern; boosting nature-positive production; advancing equitable livelihoods; and, building resilient communities

2. Identify pathways and strategies to mainstream organic agriculture’s significance towards building sustainable resilient community food systems; and

3. Promote innovative collaborative mechanisms to strengthen community food systems towards sustainability and resilience through organic agriculture

Target Outputs

1. Synthesis of knowledge and experiences on organic agriculture’s contribution towards

  • food security
  • shift to sustainable consumption pattern
  • nature-positive production
  • equitable livelihoods, and
  • building resilient communities

2. Pathways and strategies that shall mainstream organic agriculture’s role in promoting sustainability and resilience

3. Platform for dialogue and collaboration among advocates to strengthen community food systems

4. Produce publications such as a Special Issue of a refereed scientific journal from selected papers, and information and education materials from success stories and good practices in organic agriculture
