We are happy to host the members of the La Organica Farmers’ Association from La Trinidad, Benguet at UPLB OARDEC last January 23, 2024.
Their visit was facilitated by Ms. Cherrys Abrigo of SIERREZA with the assistance of Mr. Ome Bailey of LIKHAYA. The farmers’ trip from Benguet to Rizal and Laguna provinces underscores their commitment to learning and sharing best practices in organic farming.
During their visit, they had the opportunity to meet Dr. Blesilda M. Calub, former coordinator of the Organic Agriculture Program of Agricultural Systems Institute (ASI-CAFS) and former chair of the UPLB Interdisciplinary Studies Center on OA, exploring the modules in OARDEC and learning innovative techniques in organic farming.
Such collaborative efforts between farmers’ associations and organic products enterprises like SIERREZA and LIKHAYA are vital for promoting organic agriculture and ensuring food security.
